Oceans Introduction:
* Almost 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered by saline water body. This enormous saline water body is geographically divided into 5 divisions know as Oceans. There are 5 recognized oceans and

*they are listed below in the order of their sizes from largest to smallest.

1-Pacific Ocean

2-Atlantic Ocean

3-Indian Ocean

4-Southern ocean

5-Arctic Ocean
●Pacific Ocean:
Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean among 5 recognized oceans in the world. The north boundary of the Pacific Ocean is bounded by Arctic Ocean. South boundary is covered by southern ocean. East is bounded by Asia and Australia and West is bounded by American continents. Some interesting facts about the Pacific Ocean are as follows. The Pacific Ocean covers 46% of the Earth’s water surface. The Pacific Ocean covers 33% of the Earth’s total surface. The Pacific Ocean has the longest coast-line among the recognized 5 world oceans of around 135663 kms (84297 miles). The Average depth of the Pacific Ocean is highest among the 5 world oceans. The average depth is about 3970 meters. Mariana Trench in the Pacific is the deepest point in the world.
●Atlantic Ocean: collapse The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest among 5 recognized oceans in the world. Atlantic ocean is bounded on west by Americas and on east by Europe and Africa. It is connected in the north to the Arctic Ocean, to the Pacific Ocean in the south-west, the Indian Ocean in the south-east, and the Southern Ocean in the south. Some interesting facts about the Atlantic Ocean are as follows. The Atlantic Ocean covers 29% of the total water surface of the earth. The Atlantic Ocean covers 20% of the total surface of the earth. The Atlantic Ocean has got the second longest cost-line among the recognized 5 world oceans of around 111866 kms (69510 miles) Average depth of the Atlantic Ocean is 3646 meters and it comes third after Pacific and Indian Oceans.
●Indian Ocean:The Indian ocean is third largest among 5 recognized oceans in the world. Some interesting facts about the Indian Ocean are as follows. It is bounded by Asia on the north, on the west by Africa, on the east by Australia, and on the south by the Southern Ocean. It is named after India. Some interesting facts about the Indian Ocean are as follows. The Indian Ocean covers approximately 20% of the total water surface of the earth. The Indian Ocean covers approximately 14% of the earth’s total surface. The Indian Ocean has coast-line of around 66526 kms(41337 miles) and it is third longest after Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. The Indian Ocean’s average depth is 3741 meters and it comes second only after the Pacific Ocean.
●Southern Ocean:The Southern Ocean is the 4th largest among 5 recognized oceans in the world. Southern Ocean encircles Antarctica of 60° S latitude. Some interesting facts about the Southern Ocean are as follows. The Southern Ocean has coast-line of 17968 kms(11165 miles) which is the least 5 recognized oceans in the world. The average depth of the Southern Ocean is 3270 meters.
●Arctic Ocean: The Arctic Ocean is the smallest ocean among the 5 recognized oceans in the world. It is also known as Northern Ocean. It is almost completely surrounded by Europe, Asia and North America. The Arctic Ocean is almost completely covered by ice in winter and partly covered by ice throughout the year. Some interesting facts about the Arctic Ocean are as follows. The Arctic Ocean has coast-line of 45398 kms(28209 miles).
